How do I track if ChatGPT mentions my SaaS?
Run the same buyer questions through ChatGPT several times a week and log whether your brand appears, what gets cited, and how sentiment reads. There is no dashboard like Google Search Console for this. Manual, repeated testing across the same prompts, done consistently, is currently the only reliable way to see what ChatGPT says about you.
Why you can't track this like Google rankings
With Google, you can check where a page ranks for a keyword in a given location at a given time. ChatGPT doesn't work that way. Its answers shift based on the prompt wording, the user's location, which mode is running, what web data is available at that moment, and even conversation history. There's no universal dashboard that pings you when your company shows up in an answer.
This isn't just a tooling gap. Answers are genuinely unstable. In welaunch's test of live AI answers, run four times each, only 9 of 32 brand appearances in ChatGPT (28%) were named in all four runs of the same prompt, and Perplexity was similar at 6 of 21 (29%). One test on one day tells you very little. That's why repetition matters more than any single check.
What to log each time you test
Build a prompt list from your actual buyer questions, features, comparisons, and use cases, then run those same prompts on a regular schedule and write down what appears. Each run, track:
- Mentions: does ChatGPT name your company in the answer
- Citations: does it cite your site or a third-party page as a source
- Competitors: who shows up instead of you, or alongside you
- Sentiment: is the mention positive, neutral, or negative
- Referral traffic: are people actually clicking through from ChatGPT to your site
Doing this by hand across four engines, several times a week, is the part most founders struggle to keep up with. That's the gap welaunch fills: it asks your buyer questions on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI several times a week, keeps every full answer so you can read exactly what each engine said, and flags the pages they're citing. You still review everything yourself; nothing gets posted without you pressing submit.
