Spotlight: Moduvox — narrated decks that don't break when you fix a typo
Moduvox does two things that sound simple and mostly are: it turns a PowerPoint file into a narrated presentation using a cloned version of your own voice, and it tells you exactly who watched it and how far they got.
The upload flow is what you'd expect. Drop in a PPTX, give it a 30-second voice sample, and it pulls your speaker notes, writes narration from them, and reads it back in your voice. You can edit the script before it's final, which matters because auto-generated narration from speaker notes is never quite right on the first pass.
The part worth paying attention to is what happens after you've already shared the deck. Every narration tool that clones voices has to deal with the same annoying reality: decks get edited. Someone catches a typo on slide 7, or legal wants a number changed on slide 9, and suddenly you're re-generating narration for all 40 slides and sending your team a new link. Moduvox calls this Smart Update: it diffs the deck at the slide level, so editing one slide only re-narrates that slide. The other 39 stay untouched, and the link you already sent stays valid. It's a small technical decision, but it's the kind of thing that only shows up once you've actually shipped a narrated deck to a team and had someone ask you to change one bullet point.
Viewer tracking is the other half of the pitch, and it's aimed squarely at people who currently have no idea whether anyone opened the training module they spent an afternoon narrating. The dashboard shown on their site shows total viewers, completion rate, and per-person status (completed, in progress, not viewed) with timestamps. For a sales rep sending a pitch deck or an ops person pushing out compliance training, that's the difference between hoping people watched and knowing they didn't.
Who should try this: teams that send the same deck to multiple people and care about follow-through. Security training, onboarding modules, sales decks that get forwarded to a buying committee, internal training that usually lives in a folder nobody opens. If you've ever had to ask 'did you get a chance to look at that deck' in a Slack message, this is built for that exact moment. It's also a decent fit if you update decks often, since that's the whole reason Smart Update exists.
Who should skip it: if you're a solo creator making one-off narrated content (course videos, YouTube explainers), the viewer tracking won't do much for you, and there are cheaper voice-cloning tools that don't bother with the deck-tracking layer at all. It's also not for anyone who needs narration in a format other than slides. And if your decks rarely change once they're sent, Smart Update is solving a problem you don't have. Voice cloning itself, per their own framing, isn't the differentiator here. Every competitor already does that. So if all you want is a voice clone, this isn't the reason to pick Moduvox over something cheaper or more established.
Pricing wasn't visible on the page at the time of writing (it just showed a loading state), so it's worth checking before you commit a team workflow to it.
Where this could go: the natural next step is integrating with wherever these decks already live, meaning Google Slides or Keynote imports rather than PPTX only, and CRM or LMS integrations so the viewer data flows into a system a sales or L&D team already checks daily instead of a separate dashboard. That's my read on the roadmap, not anything they've stated. Right now the product is narrow and specific, which is usually a good sign this early.
